Carnegie Hall’s West Side Story

To celebrate Carnegie Hall’s 125th anniversary season, Weill Music Institute presented The Somewhere Project, a new adaption of West Side Story that spans across all five boroughs of New York City. The new version of the Broadway classic took place at the Knockdown Center, a restored factory in Queens.  Seating Solutions was there to turn this old factory into a beautiful Broadway style venue with our custom built seating system.

We supplied Carnegie Hall with six units of our safety code compliant Ultimate, all aluminum decking system with our upgraded 903 green Box Seats. Five of the units were non-elevated four rows high with a 33 inch tread depth.  The sixth unit was different.  This newly renovated space built a bar in one of our seating areas.  Seating Solutions custom designed an elevated tiered seating system to be built over their bar.  This system was designed so that it did not impede on any structural surface of the bar and it fit snugly in the tight space.  This system contained two front loaded railed staircases for entry and exit.  All six units were fully picket railed for safety and included aisles within for egress and mid-aisle handrails to code.
